Life is the Bubbles – A Little Mermaid Inspired First Birthday Party

Amanda Dolly Photography had the honor of capturing sweet Lea’s first birthday, and we love the story that Dee Kay Events shared with us about the behind the scenes of this spectacular party…

“The year 2020 was supposed to be a year full of celebrations for our family: Mom’s 40th Birthday, Lea’s Baptism and Lea’s 1st Birthday. Lea was only 3 months old once the word Coronavirus became a part of our normal everyday language. Lockdowns and quarantine began in March and all these big milestones we were looking forward to were cancelled. First the baptism was cancelled and then there were no plans made for Mom’s birthday in April. As we zoomed with our families and ate lunch together virtually on Easter, for Mom’s birthday too, we decided that for as long as this pandemic was happening, we would try to look at the brighter side of things. Well, the brighter shone so brightly, that Mom decided that if she can’t design or plan weddings and while her clients were rescheduling, she got to design and execute parties for her family. And, so it began. The parties that never were! To be a toddler during a pandemic is not easy, but to be a wedding planner’s kid during a pandemic is a win-win. Let’s decorate! A total of 10 people attended. Without all of our family and friends, it was just as sweet, if not sweeter. Lea had an amazing first birthday party. Let’s face it. This party was for Mom to design. But, the photos will always hold an incredible memory!

The theme was “Life is the Bubbles,” to remind us to be grateful for what we have in front of us. “Under the Sea” from The Little Mermaid is also one of Lea’s favorite songs. Our little siren of the sea was able to be a mermaid for a day. Even Dad put on his best mermaid scale leggings on. We even had a cake smash! Lea’s first time eating cake. Poor kid. She really needs to get out more. It was an amazing day!”
