IVY VINE

This DIY is simply to give you some ideas on different looks you can have with giant floral balloons. They are great to add to birthday parties, baby showers, and weddings. They can be a photo backdrop, prop or even wedding aisle decor. The sky is the limit when it comes to balloons!

Step 1

THE BALLOONS

36 in Balloons are pretty easy to find online. If you don’t have some already you can order some here. Next, take them to a local party to fill them with helium. (There will probably be a small charge to have them do so, but it is worth it!) or in true DIY fashion you can get your own helium tank. They are great to have on hand for any last minute parties or projects that you may need balloons for!

Step 2

GATHER THE IVY AND THE FLOWERS

In the balloon shown below, there are 3 strands of ivy about each approximately 2 ft long. You will also need at least 5 fairly large flower heads.

This is the ultimate DIY project for someone on the budget, because the ivy for this tutorial came straight from the outdoors. The flowers are cactus zinnia grown in a garden. They are easy to grow flowers that have a tropical look to them. If you are interested in growing them, you can usually find seeds for them at any local plant store or right here. The zinnias can be substituted for any flower you like, depending on the look you want your party or gathering to have.

Step 3

FASTEN THE IVY TO THE STRING WITH FLORAL WIRE

You can find this at any local craft store or right here.

Step 4

Trim the flower heads so there is only about 1-2 inches of stem and fasten them to the vine and balloon string using the floral wire. Space them out accordingly and on different sides to give it a fuller look.

Tip: The weight of the flowers will hold the balloon down naturally, but it is still good to have something to hold them in place!

Just to show you how simple it is to add different flowers, we took the same balloon and substituted silk purple roses for the zinnias!

And there you have it! Some really simple ideas for a DIY giant floral balloon!
