A Harry Potter Inspired Baby Shower

Lin Pernille Photography + Video captured one amazing Harry Potter themed baby shower, and we love what she had to say about the event…

“The attention to detail at Theresa’s magical Harry Potter themed baby shower was out of this world! From golden snitches to Hedwig owls, this shower included every fan’s favorite Harry Potter references.

Guests entered into the baby shower through none other than Platform 9 3/4 (a “brick wall” made from a shower curtain). As friends arrived, they were invited to write a note on a diaper to cheer up the soon-to-be parents during late night diaper changes. Guests took their seats in the “Great Hall” at a table belonging to their House. If anyone wasn’t sure what House they belonged to, cootie catchers on the tables would help them determine which House they should sit at. With each House as a team, guests played games such as What’s in a Name, Baby Trivia, Count the Every Flavour Beans, and Baby Crossword (with a broomstick pen, of course).

The decor of the room was spot-on with floating candlesticks, color-coded tables, washcloth owls, potions, a Mandrake plant, flying keys, and a corsage for Theresa made out of actual Harry Potter book pages.

The lunch buffet included delicious Harry Potter themed favorites made by Kirsten, Maj, Theresa, & Natalie, such as Howlers, Huffle Puffs, Deviled Dragon Eggs, Leaky Cauldron Pie, Gillyweed Salad, Pygmypuff Sorting Hats, and Professor Sprout’s Herbology Garden.

Desserts were served, including Ferrero Rocher Golden Snitches, tea & scones, Butterbeer, and chocolate frogs.

The next round of games included Guess the Baby Food, Accio, and Mom’s Measurements.

Theresa was showered with tons of great gifts for Baby Hendrie like a hand-crocheted Dobby hat, Harry Potter diaper cake, a Little Muggle Milestone Tapestry, lots of great Harry Potter onesies (made with a Cricut), books, and tons more.

Finally, the points for all the games were tallied up to determine the winning house, just like in the books & movies.

The last activity was Pass the Prize, a poem to determine which guest at each table would get to take home the prize (which included a bottle of Butterbeer, a chocolate wand, and Every Flavour Beans).

Before they left, guests were invited to take home a chocolate bar and a “potion” for their baths.”
